at Liberty U. Bands that performed were Casting Crowns,
Building 429, Adrenaline among others.
(OK Katie are you sure you didn't do it?). We were all pretty
tired after spending the full day at Liberty.
High Jump up to the top bunk in all the rooms. Oh yea, I almost
forgot the pillow fights....
November 27: The Teens will begin Advent Wreath Lighting Service. During the next four
weeks we will get ready for Jesus' birthday by lighting candles on our Advent wreath
each week. All teens are welcome to come out and join our teen ministry, teen retreats
and hopefully in the future teen missions.
The teen group from Grove Baptist Church attended a week long Camp at
Liberty University, in Lynchburg Virginia. The Camp motto was 1 Lord,
1 Life and 1 Love. The camp was attended by 56 churches that belong to
the Southern Baptist Convention, Virginia. One thousand students attended
the camp and approximately 200 students accepted Jesus Christ as their
Savior. One of teen speakers was Ken Freeman who had a wonderful rapport
with the teens and an awesome testimony about his life and Jesus Christ.
He immediately made a connection with the teens by telling stories about
his own childhood and the struggles and trials that he encountered during
his teen years. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at the age of 17.
God turned his life around and he now travels inspiring and encouraging
teens to make the right choices and to live their life for Christ. The Daily
Camp schedule included; Family Groups, Field activities, Worship service,
comedy routines and a live band called Starfield.
This camp was so well received that we are planning our attendance for next year.
Basketball fund raiser (Teens against Leaders) April 10, 2005
The adult Leaders of the Church faced off against the Grove teens
of Grove Baptist Church. The basketball referee for the game was
none other than Mr. Dan Maine. Dan volunteered to undertake the
monumental task of keeping control of the run away teens. The score
keeper for the game was Mr. Brewster. Thank you both for a job well done.....
It was a fast pace game that found the adults in the lead for 3 full quarters.
When the 4th quarter started and the adults started to feel their aches and
pains from the previous 3 quarters, the teens took control of the game and
won by an 11 point margin. The adults leaders are in the final phases
of setting up a rematch. It is sure to be a battle to remember!!!
Teen Lockin April 22-23, 2005
This was a night of just pure Christian Fun from the start. The evening
was spent playing basketball, dodge ball, relay races and having a wonderful
bible study lesson. All teens (13 total) enjoyed spending time with the Lord this night.

Massanutten Ski Resort Feb 5, 2005
Our Teen Lock-In on Feb. 4th and trip to Massanutten Ski Resort on February 5, 2005
went well. We had 3 adults and 7 teens come to this event. Bob Peoples couldn't make
it because he had a tummy ache. (just kidding Bob) . Friday night we had a great Bible
Study lesson in the new building then each teen packed his/hers own lunch for the
Massanutten ski trip. It took some time for the teens to settled down from their sugar
rush because of the cookies and candy. Most of the teens played Basketball while others
played board games.
Sleeping on the cushioned chairs in the classrooms was rough but was well worth
the adventure. We woke up and ate Breakfast and gathered our gear for the ski trip.
We boarded the 1990 (looks older, a lot older) van and headed for Massanutten Resort.
Well, we made it about 9:30am and immediately got in line to purchase tickets. I could
tell everyone was excited, including the adults. Some of the teens wanted ski's and
some wanted snow boards. Overall everyone had a great time skiing , falling , falling ,
almost skiing , falling again. It was a Lord blessed day , there were no injuries. The
only event was the Van broke down and Steve and Jim came to save the day. We left
the van on Rt. 29 where it was towed to Steves Garage. Jim and Steve dropped all of
us off at the Church parking lot. Thanks Steve and Jim for comming to our aid. We will
have pictures up on our Event board at Church real soon.
January there were no teen events (Fundraiser cancelled due to the snow storm)
December there were no teen events
On November 28th the Teen Bible Study Group visited local Merchants. We posted flyers giving details
about the upcoming "The Christmas Shoes" musical that will be held at Grove Baptist Church.
On November 7th our Teen Ministry went to Fredericksburg Va. We were delighted to have 12 teens
on the trip with us. Our first stop was Fuddruckers were we ate lunch and drank Milkshakes. After
Lunch we did some Christmas Shopping at the mall. Event Reflection: (Farm Wars) On October 9th our
Teen Ministry (Grove Teen Force) met with the Calvary Baptist Church Teen Ministry from Woodbridge,
Virginia. We met at the Taylor farm in Sumerduck, Virginia. Grove Leaders were tasked with setting up
the dinner area. We were able to borrow three grills to cook the 200+ Hot Dogs and 24 Veggie Burgers.
The Calvary Baptist Church Teens arrived on two buses at 6:15pm with approximately 100 teens and 15
Teen Leaders. We started the evening by blessing the food and asking God to watch over each teen’s
safety during this event. After we ate, the leaders setup the guidelines on how the game was to be played.
This game is like capture the flag, except each team used a tire as their flag. The goal is to bring the
opposing teams tire back to your home base. During the game, if an opposing player took off a Teen’s
armband that player had to go to Jail. Before the Teen could leave the jail and return to the game they
had to memorize a Bible Verse. The game started when it was totally dark and continued until 10:20pm
After the game we had a prayer and a Testimony from one of the Teen Leaders, Randy Scott. . We
enjoyed the evening and look forward to future events.
Groves Teen Force had an outstanding time selling hotdogs and baked goods at the auction. Despite the weather,
we all had a great time fellowshipping with one another and people in the Community.
